I like Aston Villa a lot in this spot. Both clubs played FA Cup matches over the weekend. Portsmouth on Saturday and Aston Villa on Sunday. Aston Villa played a good match against Manchester United before Paul Scholes took over and United got a 2-1 victory. David O'Leary's side have been playing very well and even though Juan Pable Angell picked up an injury over the weekend, he is scheduled to play.

Portsmouth have had a terrible time on the road lately and their woes continue here as they have some injury problems and I don't even see them even scoring in this match. With both Liverpool and Newcastle under achieving this season, it's not inconceivable that Aston Villa could grab that fourth Champion's League spot. I see them picking up a fairly easy three points here. This price is moving up a bit as word of Portsmouth's injury woes are affecting the line.

Aston Villa -150 over Portsmouth

soccerbob,

Thanks for the tip!

I agree that Villa look a good bet tommorrow at home to Pompey but as for them getting a Champions League spot I really can't see it myself. They just don't have the players to put together the kind of run they would need to finish fourth IMO.

Personally if they finish in the top half of the table I would consider that an achievement for them.

I think Villa are at -145 with Hollywood if anyone is looking to squeeze a bit of extra value.

jip- I feel either Newcastle or Liverpool will get the fourth spot but after the big three at the top of the table, there is so much mediocrity that anything can happen. I look for Newcastle to come on a bit and take control of the fourth spot. This squad looks like they're coming together. They've started to spread the scoring around a bit and that will take some pressure off Alan Shearer.
